Alfredo Morelos out of Rangers European clash as Ryan Edwards awaits decision on controversial tackle

Alfredo Morelos is out of Thursday’s Europa League trip to Gibraltar – and Ryan Edwards will find out on Tuesday if he’ll pay a price for injuring the Rangers striker.

Morelos was stretched off with a gash above his knee on Saturday and has been told that he’ll likely miss the next two weeks.

The Colombian met with his agent Michael Gorman in Glasgow on Monday but there’s been no fresh bids .

French side Lille and Italian club Fiorentina are still interested.

But Lille would have to sell Jonathan Ikone to fund the move while the Italians would need to cash in on Federico Chiesa. Premier League new boys West Brom are also watching.

Morelos was the subject of a £16million bid from Lille earlier in the window that was turned down.

Meanwhile, Edwards is being examined by SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte, who will decide today if action is needed.

But ex-Premier League ref Dermot Gallagher thinks Kevin Clancy was right not to show red.

He said: “He plays the ball first. It’s unfortunate, he follows through and catches Morelos, but I don’t think it’s a red card.”
