Alfredo Morelos 'let Rangers down' insists Celtic hero as he reckons striker costs his club points

Alfredo Morelos has "let Rangers down" and cost the club points with his antics, according to Alan Stubbs.

The former Celtic man reckons the striker has caused the club to drop points already this season because of his ill discipline. Morelos was sent off in Rangers' 2-2 draw with Hibs at Easter Road earlier in the campaign before failing to make Gio van Bronckhorst 's first team squad for the all important Champions League play-off in Eindhoven.

But the Colombian is likely to be back and available for selection soon, with the Ibrox boss praising his attitude earlier in the week. Stubbs, however, insists damage has already been done during the forward's time in Govan, with his behaviour proving costly at crucial points throughout the seasons. Despite the ex-Hoops star admitting an on form Morelos is a key man for the Light Blues, Stubbs feels the fiery frontman owes both his manager and Gers fans a lot if and when he returns to the match day squad.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Stubbs said: "There's no doubt what a fit and firing Alfredo Morelos brings to the team but his attitude isn't right and he's let Rangers down. He's cost them a lot of points.

"Morelos has a lot of questions he needs to answer and he owes the manager and fans far more than what he's shown."

The Parkhead legend is also certain his former side will continue in their winning ways as they welcome Rangers in Glasgow's east end on Saturday. The Hoops can move five points clear at the top of the table with an Old Firm victory after a 100 per cent start to the season.

"Celtic's 100 per cent record will continue this weekend but it will be a very open Old Firm. Both teams have great spending power now and are pulling further and further away from the rest of the league." He added.

"Celtic were nothing short of fantastic under Ange Postecoglou last season and they're still ahead of Rangers but it is closer than it has been in previous years.

"Ange's standards sets him apart from every other manager. Celtic were a mess when he took over and he came in at the right time. He's a calm and calculated individual that the players really respect.

"I get the impression that the league will go down to the wire. Celtic are my favourites and they have a bigger strength in depth. Rangers have strengthened though and there's a lot more competition for places and the Old Firm will definitely dictate where the league goes."
