Alfredo Morelos launches foundation as Rangers star looks to help kids in Colombia

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has launched a foundation to help kids in his home town of Cerete.

The Colombian grew up in a poor environment before moving to Medellin to start a football career that has taken him to Glasgow via Helsinki.

And now Morelos wants to give something back to Cerete by helping youngsters in a similar situation.

He's launched the 'Fundacion Alfredo Morelos' that he hopes will help children achieve something with their lives despite coming from an underprivileged background.

In a post on Instagram to launch the foundation, he said: "It is a privilege for me to open this wonderful foundation where the children of Cerete will be able to fulfil their dreams as well as I did in my childhood.

"If you can believe it, you can achieve it. I am proud to be a mediator of this project and be a reference to this beautiful project that will help many people and will bring out great talents from my land."

In December last year, Morelos also took part in a tribute match in Colombia just a day after a win over Celtic.

The 23-year-old lined up alongside childhood friends and they all wore Rangers strips for a team called 'Friends of Morelos' against local team Aquel Atletico Cordoba.

Morelos was also honoured by the town's mayor with a medal.
