Alfredo Morelos in Rangers injury sweat as Steven Gerrard provides Ryan Kent return timeline

Rangers are likely to be without Alfredo Morelos this weekend against Motherwell - as Steven Gerrard revealed Ryan Kent could miss 'a few weeks' of action.

Morelos suffered a tight hamstring in last night's Europa League defeat to Lyon at Ibrox.

Kent also hobbled off against the French side in the second-half.

There were fears for the former Liverpool winger following a decent first-45 which saw him looking dangerous for the hosts.

But now Gerrard has confirmed his playmaker could be out for some time.

Kent will be sent for a scan while Morelos will likely be rested as Gers make the trip to face Motherwell on Sunday.

Manager Gerrard said: "Ryan Kent will be sent for a scan today. He will obviously be out for the weekend and could miss a few weeks but we will know more this evening.

“Alfredo Morelos has a tight hamstring and is a doubt for the weekend but it’s not an issue on Kent’s level.”

We told how Gerrard admitted his side have not yet hit top gear but he explained earlier this morning how he and his staff have been frustrated at issues forcing him to be unable to pick a settled lineup.

He added: "Having everyone fit and available and in top form is the dream scenario.

“We haven’t had a real settled squad so far this season with injuries and Covid to get some rhythm going but this is an issue we have to deal with.

“The squad, even more so than the previous three years, will be very important.”
