Alfredo Morelos in Colombia promise as Rangers star sends message to stricken pal after horror incident

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has shown his support for Colombia compatriot Santiago Arias following a horror injury.

The Scottish Premiership star came off the bench during his national side's 3-0 win over Venezuela on Friday night.

But the victory was overshadowed by a sickening incident involving Bayer Leverkusen right-back Arias.

The defender slid in for what looked to be an innocuous challenge on winger Darwin Machis during the first-half.

But as the Venezuelan attacker recoiled in horror it became clear Arias had suffered a serious injury.

Replays showed the 28-year-old's leg appear to fold back under his own body as he looked to block his opponents cross, leaving his ankle badly dislocated.

But the referee took a different view and brandished tearful Machis a red card.

The game was halted for a sustained period before Arias was carried from the pitch.

Morelos was subbed on for the final 30 minutes and sent a message of support to his team-mate after the full-time whistle.

He posted a picture on Instagram of the pair training together ahead of the fixture.

The Rangers striker wrote: "We are with you my brother"
