Alfredo Morelos has become El Buffoon and Rangers must get rid of him - Hotline

Alfred the king burned the cakes, while Alfredo the Rangers striker scorched his side’s slim chances of lifting the title.

Celtic put an even firmer grip on eight-in-a-row with their 2-1 win at Parkhead, but it was the indiscipline of the Colombian frontman that provided the game’s biggest talking point.

The Light Blues legions were outraged at his antics in elbowing Scott Brown, while the Hoops supporters reacted with glee as he was shown a red card for the fifth time this season.

The explosive Celtic Park rammy as Mikael Lustig’s shirt is ripped to shreds

Trevor McDonald, Ballymena kicked us off saying : “I have always given the manager and players the benefit of doubt and Rangers really did give it their all, but Morelos let his mates and fans down again. It would be better if Kyle Lafferty or Jermain Defoe were given a run until end of season.

“Our defence also handed Celtic the game. Credit where it’s due, but in a game as intense as this, there is no room for error. One answer is to play man giant Gareth McAuley, the experienced international.”

James Kennedy, Kilsyth, said: “El Buffalo? More like El Buffoonalo. Thanks Alfredo. You helped my team to edge nearer to eight-in-a-row.“

Craig Barnett emailed: “It’s time for the Colombian to go. His is just a disaster. Take the money and buy Stevie May. He can’t buy a goal at Aberdeen and he would be in budget.”

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Gerrard needs to get shot of Alfredo Morelos this summer before his pathetic behaviour ends up losing the manager his own job.”

Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, added: “Gerrard must get as much as he can for Morelos in the summer, who has proved to be a liability, and use it to help buy Ryan Kent.

“He also has to get rid of the over the hill players on big money like Steven Davis, Jermain Defoe and Gareth McAuley, whilst shipping out the likes of Jon Flanagan, Borna Barisic, Eros Gresda, Joe Worrall and Lassana Coulibaly.

“There won’t be too many Rangers fans who disagree with me. Let’s hope Gerrard heeds the advice.”

Alfredo Morelos to be fined by Rangers with money 'going to fans'

Jim McNaught, Maryburgh, said: "I am a lifelong Rangers man and I’m so disappointed that Alfredo Morelos can’t control himself.

"El Buffalo? - maybe El Buffoon or El Stupido. I don’t doubt he will someday be a great professional but he’s got to go now."

Scott Kerr via email: “Good. Morelos finally got what he deserved after being let off scot-free at Ibrox last time. Rangers players just can’t handle us beating them and proved at full time they are sore losers.

“Gerrard is brainwashed, saying Rangers were the better team with 10 men. It should have been done and dusted in the first half but Celtic were wasteful in front of goal.”

Celtic won the game, but the manner of their performance didn’t please every fan.

Scott Brown trolls Rangers defender Andy Halliday after Celtic Park rammy

David Bryce, Ayr: “I am absolutely raging about that Celtic performance. We were awful and played off the park by 10 men.

“Why are we playing every game in second gear? Neil Lennon’s substitutions were poor. Scott Sinclair is awful and should be let go, Mikael Lustig is finished, Scott Brown is far too slow and Kieran Tierney is injury prone. That was also as bad as I’ve seen Tom Rogic. That result only papers over the cracks.”

Bill Lockerbie, Northampton: “It says something about the status of Steven Gerrard as a manager when he can make issue with one opposing player winding up his so-called professional players.

“He says he would have done what Halliday did and then excused the Ryan Jack right hook. No wonder they’re rudderless and out of control.”

David Knox, Queen’s Park: “It’s funny how Celtic supporters have all gone very quiet over alleged bias now that results and decisions have clearly gone their way.

“I can’t wait for the explosion of paranoia next year from their manager and fans when Rangers end their run of titles.”
