Alfredo Morelos fit for Rangers as star striker spotted heading for training amid Ibrox Covid blow

Rangers fans have been boosted by the news that Alfredo Morelos will be available for this week’s huge double header.

The champions are dealing with positive Covid tests within the squad which has severely hampered Steven Gerrard’s preparations for a massive two games.

Gerrard is set to be without some key men for the Europa League play off second leg against Alashkert and Sunday’s first Old Firm derby of the season at Ibrox.

But Record Sport Online can reveal that Morelos is not one of the players Gerrard will be missing for those matches.

The Colombian was spotted making his way to the Rangers Training Centre ahead of the squad’s long flight to Armenia.

And Gers supporters will be delighted at that news as the speculate over what kind of patchwork side Gerrard could be forced to field.

Morelos is closing in on a century of goals and the 25-year-old would be the first since Kenny Miller to join the Gers 100 club.

The South American striker hit his third goal of the campaign in the weekend win over Ross County.

He broke his derby duck last season when he netted his first goal in 15 attempts against Celtic in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead.

And Gerrard will be delighted to have him available for the visit of the Hoops for Sunday’s showdown in Govan.

Gers were already boosted by the news he has been left out of the Colombia squad for upcoming matches, having been forced to quarantine after returning from his homeland at the start of the season.
