Alfredo Morelos fired Rangers mindset warning as Gary McAllister pinpoints global transfer reality

Gary McAllister has told Alfredo Morelos to focus on Rangers.

But the Ibrox assistant manager has also confessed that a suitable bid made to the club for the Colombian could see the striker leave.

Morelos has rejected a move to Qatar, but his future remains sharply in debate with French outfit Rennes interested in his services and agents have also clashed over unsubstantiated and subsequently denied claims made in the Italian media that the hitman wants to go to Serie A.

Manager Steven Gerrard wants his top scorer to stay, but has conceded that the right offer may take the situation out of his hands and his No.2 has echoed the fact that, if the price is right, the attacker may end up going.

However, right now, he is firmly part of the Light Blues squad gearing up for the 2020/21 campaign and McAllister is adamant Morelos’ mind must be fully on the job as he’s primed for the term ahead by his coaches.

He said: “Alfredo has to be fully aware that he is a Rangers player and he is under contract here. He is part of the team and part of the squad.

“Our only intention at this moment is to get this player up to speed, like every other player at this club, going into the start of the season.

“The fixtures will be announced on Monday and we also have the game with Bayer Leverkusen coming in quite quickly after that and all the squad are working towards those games.

“I don’t think all the speculation is going to go away, but, like any player at any club across the entire globe, when there is a bid arrives that the club thinks is the right bid, then that player tends to go. But Alfredo is a Rangers player.”
