Alfredo Morelos faces Rangers ban sweat as Ibrox star hit with SFA notice of complaint

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been charged by the SFA over an alleged stamp on Ryan Porteous - and he could be banned for three games.

The Colombian was caught up in a flashpoint with the Hibs defender during the 1-0 win at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Referee Kevin Clancy deemed it accidental at the time but the SFA have decided to hit the striker with a notice of complaint.

He’ll face a fast track tribunal hearing on Tuesday, February 2, and could miss the next three league games for Rangers.

That would see Steven Gerrard without the frontman for games against St Johnstone, Hamilton Accies and Kilmarnock.

If Morelos accepts the ban or is banned at the hearing, it means he won’t play again until the Europa League game against Royal Antwerp on February 18.

This would be a second ban of the season for Morelos if Rangers decide to accept it, with the SFA previously hitting him with a two game ban for an elbow against Dundee United.
