Alfredo Morelos faces potential Rangers ban as striker hit with notice of complaint for Dundee United incident

Rangers face being without Alfredo Morelos for two games after the striker was hit with a notice of complaint following an incident in the 2-1 win over Dundee United.

The Colombian was booked after a challenge with Mark Connolly during the first half of the victory at Tannadice with referee Steven McLean deciding it was only worth of a caution.

Pundits Kris Boyd and Ally McCoist both believed it was worthy of a red card when Morelos caught Connolly with his arm as he competed for the header.

And now, the SFA compliance officer has decided to issue a notice of complaint and Morelos will now be up in front of the disciplinary committee on Thursday.

If he's deemed guilty of breaching disciplinary rule 200, then he'll miss games against Motherwell and St Johnstone over the next week.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard insisted it was only worthy of a booking but now faces being without the Colombian for two games.

After the win at Tannadice, he said: “I haven’t looked at the incident back but I remember it from normal play. It was a foul and the referee’s dealt with it with a yellow card.

“I don’t think there’s anything else to say on it.”
