Alfredo Morelos credits Rangers boss Steven Gerrard with impressive turnaround

Alfredo Morelos has revealed the influence Steven Gerrard is having on his career as he again returned to the subject of a potential transfer.

The Rangers star last week suggested an Ibrox exit could be on the cards just hours before the club revealed £11million losses in their latest accounts.

Gerrard responded to those claims after watching Morelos net a brace to help his side reach the Betfred Cup Final with a convincing 3-0 win over Hearts, saying he was "100 per cent" not going anywhere in January.

And now Morelos has revealed there has only been one bid for him – from Bordeaux in the summer of 2018 for around £3.8m – as he credited his manager for helping him iron out his disciplinary issues this season.

He told Antena 2: "There is nothing concrete or official.

"There is a lot of speculation surrounding me leaving the club.

"Lots of teams would offer a good amount of money for me.

"I have not talked to anyone, but if God allows it, I think many clubs will come forward for my good performances.

"But I've had no contact with anyone.

"The Bordeaux thing was true but in the end no agreement was reached."

Morelos was plagued with disciplinary issues last term as he racked up five red cards, although one was rescinded, and 18 bookings.

But this season he has drastically improved that side of his game, having picked up five yellow cards.

Speaking about the influence of Gerrard on his transformation, he added: "As a player you make mistakes, I have learned and Gerrard has advised me a lot.

"Referees have always made it difficult for me in that aspect (the cards), but I learned from that. I am going about things better in that sense.

"With him I have a lot of confidence and he plays me as a number nine. Sometimes, if he knows I have a chance, he sends me to find the ball on the wings or in the middle of the pitch."
