Alfredo Morelos banned for three Rangers games as Ibrox side accept punishment

Rangers will be without Alfredo Morelos for three games after the club decided to accept the SFA's punishment instead of taking it to a hearing.

The Colombian is suspended for the second time this season after being adjudged to have stamped on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous in the 1-0 win last Wednesday.

It means Morelos will miss three matches against St Johnstone on Wednesday night, Hamilton on Sunday and Kilmarnock the following weekend.

Steven Gerrard will now call upon Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten or Jermain Defoe to fill the main striker's spot for the three matches that Morelos will be missing.

The Colombian won't be available for Rangers again until the Europa League game against Royal Antwerp later this month.

He scored the winner in the victory over Hibs after the incident in the first half, which referee Kevin Clancy believed to be accidental at the time.

There was also a controversial moment in the second half when Darren McGregor appeared to stamp on Glen Kamara but wasn't hit by a notice of complaint.

The incident with Morelos also forced Hibs into an apology to Rangers after pundit Irvine Welsh called for the striker to be 'chopped up' with a 'machete' in a vile rant.
