Alfredo Morelos' agent blasts Rangers star's phantom advisor as he sets Napoli record straight

Alfredo Morelos' agent Michael Gorman has dismissed reports linking his client to a move to Italy.

Transfer speculation was fuelled yesterday as quotes from an 'agent' claiming to be working to shift the Colombian to another club emerged.

Miki Bouraoui talked to Calcio Napoli after Lille star Victor Osimhen was spotted in Naples apparently looking to seal a transfer to Southern Italy

He said: "(Victor) Osimhen? Great footballer, if the attacker has arrived in the city and talks to the club, then it means that there is an excellent chance for it to be closed.

“The possible arrival of the Nigerian excludes the commitment of another attacker. I’m talking about Alfredo Morelos.

"Last year he was the top scorer in Scotland and this year he scored a lot with Glasgow Rangers.

“I had proposed him to Giuntoli (Napoli sporting director), after he had given me his approval.

“He is a very valuable player for whom there are different clubs interested, especially in the Premier League, but his preference is to move to Italy.”

But Gorman, an agent with World in Motion who looks after the Rangers striker told Colombian news outlet Golombianos : “We do not know him (Boureoui).

"It has nothing to do with us or with Morelos. He is a liar."

The Rangers striker scored 29 goals before coronavirus ended the season prematurely and Steven Gerrard remains keen to see him stay in light blue.

But the Ibrox boss is a realist and knows interest will be high and every top footballer can be bought if the right deal is put on the table.

He said: “Alfredo is a fantastic footballer.

“He scores goals in big volumes and I’m really looking forward to him getting match fit, up to speed and ready to play.

“But I suppose what you want me to say is, whether he will be here next year. That’s the million dollar question.

“I want all my best players here, I’ve said that many times.

“For us to be successful, we need our best players fit, available and out there on the pitch.

“But you and I know that every player has his price. Will we get bids for our best players? It’s quite possible.

“That’s something I can’t control, so it’s something we are just going to have to manage going forward.”
