Alfredo Morelos 'admits' Rangers transfer exit desire after Porto chats with Colombian teammates

Alfredo Morelos has reportedly told those close to him that he wants to leave Rangers for Porto, according to Portuguese media.

Abola claim that the Colombian striker is set to plead with Ibrox chiefs to accept an offer that will allow him to make the switch to Portugal.

The Gers are holding out for around €15million for Morelos, with Steven Gerrard determined to keep him for their tilt at the Champions League group stages, which would earn them at least the equivalent of what Porto are willing to spend to get their man.

Dragoes have reportedly offered €12million with a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

And the Portuguese outlet claims that the 25-year-old has told his inner circle that he wants the transfer to happen after speaking with international teammates Uribe and Luis Diaz about life at the club.

A hamstring injury suffered by Jermain Defoe in yesterday’s 2-2 friendly draw with Arsenal isn’t thought to be serious, but it’s unlikely the Scottish Premiership champions will sanction any deal for Morelos while they don’t have a full complement of fit strikers.

The former Helsinki hitman netted 17 times last season as Rangers cruised to a first league title triumph in a decade.

They are keen to hold onto Morelos as they defend it this year while also setting their sights on the lucrative group stages of Europe’s premier competition.
