Alfredo Morelos addresses Rangers transfer 'rumours' as striker delivers key update

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos insists he is ignoring transfer speculation surrounding his Ibrox future.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a clutch of clubs with Napoli and Lille the latest to reportedly register an interest in the Colombia international.

Morelos is back in action for the new campaign and started the 4-0 win over Motherwell on Tuesday as Steven Gerrard 's continued their work ahead of a season for the ages.

And the only thing on his mind is helping his side in their quest to deny rivals Celtic a 10th consecutive title.

Speaking on the VBar show on Caracol Radio, he said: "I am focused on what I do and my talent, I do not pay attention to the racist comments.

"My mentality is that I want to change things for good and I want to be able to progress as a player and as a person. I have worked every day to improve my temperament.

"There are a lot of rumours about my future, but right now I am focused on Rangers.

"I really like the leagues in England, Spain and France. Any of those three could be a nice opportunity because they are regarded as at a higher level than Scotland."

Morelos has made no secret in the past of his desire to one day ply his trade in the English Premier League.

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Gerrard is eyeing incoming players rather than departures up top after Jermain Defoe hobbled off during the comprehensive win over the Steelmen.

The 40-year-old said: "I think first and foremost we need to just stay calm and find out the extent of the injury and how long its going to be.

"I went on record last week saying I’d like to add in that area in terms of the firepower.

"So it might push us even more in that direction to try and get something done."
