The Jacksonville Jaguars started the week on a high note by adding another free agent addition on the offensive end in former Houston Texans tailback Alfred Blue. At 27 years of age, he’ll automatically come into the Jags’ running back corps as the room’s most experienced player, which is something he told Ashlyn Sullivan of Jaguars.com he’s looking forward to.
“When looking at the running back room, it looks like it’s only me and Fournette right now,” Blue said. “With me being the league five years, I’m considered the big brother and the veteran in the room for [Leonard] Fournette and whoever else comes behind us.”
When it comes to substantial experience in recent times, Blue is right, he and Fournette look like they should be the No. 1 and No. 2 guys heading into offseason training activities. Behind them will be another veteran in Thomas Rawls, who has only taken the field in one regular season game since 2018, and two second-year players in Dimitri Flowers and David Williams, both of whom spent a majority of 2018 on practice squad.
Blue will bring plenty of experience into the Jags locker room after participating in 46 games and starting in 15 while with the Texans. During that tenure, he also managed to accumulate a career total of 1,646 rushing yards and five touchdowns, and now that he has a better offensive line in front of him, it’s quite possible fans could see a resurgence from the former Louisiana State Tiger in Jacksonville.
