Alfonso Ribeiro reveals daughter, 4, faces 'long recovery' after emergency surgery

Alfonso Ribeiro has revealed his four-year-old daughter faces a long recovery following a scary scooter accident.

The youngster named Ava fell off her scooter on her birthday and required emergency surgery, her dad revealed.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star, 51, told morning show Live! With Kelly and Mark about his daughter's plight.

He revealed: "On Thursday, unfortunately, my daughter got injured and had to have emergency surgery.

"So it was a very stressful weekend. She fell and had basically road rash on her face and arm, and so they had to scalpel off all the skin."

He admitted her recovery will be a "long process" after Mark asked him about what lies ahead for the tot.

And Alfonso added how his wife had predicted such an incident before it happened. He continued: "The hard part of it is that my wife really listens to her intuitions.

"And she actually on Thursday brought everyone into the kitchen and told everyone, ‘I have a feeling my daughter is going to the ER this week. Do not let her do anything that she can get hurt doing.'"

But he confessed no one listened to her warnings despite her being a psychic "most of her life". The actor revealed she "very rarely gets things wrong," adding: "You don’t always listen to that feeling, and I think that all mothers have that beautiful intuition."

Alfonso had shared snaps of the nasty looking injuries to his social media in the days that followed. Little Ava was seen in a yellow vest with her arm heavily bruised under her shoulder and around her elbow.

Her face also had a sore looking scrape just under her right eye. Alfonso captioned the pic: "Not the kind of day you want the day before turning 4."

He then praised the care his daughter had received, adding: "Just want to give a heartfelt thank you to @kareskinmd for the emergency service and procedure to help lessen the likelihood of scaring. So proud of how brave my baby girl was during the surgery."

Fans were quick to send well wishes to Ava in the comments section, with Amy Purdy saying: " Oh no! Sending love and healing."
