Alfie Devine is the former Liverpool youngster who broke Tottenham records

Former Liverpool prospect Alfie Devine scored for Tottenham Hotspur against Marine in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Liverpool released Alfie Devine at 11-years-old before he was snapped up by Wigan Athletic.

Devine made his Latics under-23 debut at 15 and was training with the first-team before Jose Mourinho and Tottenham swooped in the summer following financial difficulties for the Latics.

The 16-year-old was fast-tracked to first-team training by Mourinho and scored on his debut at the Marine Travel Arena on Sunday. He became Spurs' youngest scorer at 16 years and 163 days old.

He was snapped up by the Latics four months after being released by Liverpool and became one of the hottest talents outside of the Premier League when he was named player of the tournament at the SportChain Cup for England u-16s in December.

The teenager had trained with the first-team under Paul Cook at Wigan last season before signing for Spurs.
