Alexis Sanchez 'told he must halve £400k-a-week wages' to seal Inter Milan transfer

Inter Milan are reportedly open to the idea of making Alexis Sanchez's move to the club permanent, but would demand he agrees to half his current £400,000-a-week wages.

Sanchez, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester United , has returned to the starting line-up recently after spending three months out injured.

He has still only scored one goal and created two assists for his side all season, but he was Man of the Match in Inter's 2-1 win over Ludogorets Razgrad on Thursday.

And according to Italian outlet Tuttosport , Inter would consider bringing Alexis in on a permanent deal if he agrees to cut his wages to £200,000-a-week.

It is highly likely that United would be willing to let the player go, especially as they still pay a staggering £16.5m of his wages every year.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer somewhat surprisingly recently appeared to suggest that Sanchez could yet be a success at Old Trafford, saying last month: "Alexis will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong."

But considering the huge amount he costs the club, it is thought that if a good offer comes in for the Chilean international in the summer he will most likely be on his way.

Sanchez first joined United from Arsenal in 2017 but was a huge flop, scoring just five times in 45 games before his loan move to Italy.

He admitted upon joining Inter that he had lost some of his love for football during his nightmare spell at United, and was pleased to be given the opportunity of a new start.

Speaking in November Sanchez said: "Coming to Inter was a bit like falling in love with football again. I already knew the coach and some of the players, and I believe that the club are preparing something beautiful for the future."
