Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal transfer: Shock recommendation, Instagram post, Man City admission

Alexis Sanchez has surprisingly been linked with a sensational return to Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sanchez left the Emirates Stadium to join Manchester United back in January 2018 but the talented forward struggled for form, scoring just five times in 45 appearances for the Red Devils. The Chilean international has since got his career back on track, enjoying a solid spell with Serie A giants Inter Milan before joining Ligue 1 outfit Marseille last summer.

The 34-year-old has netted 17 times for the French side this term. Now, some shock reports have emerged linking him with a return to the Gunners ahead of the summer window.

So, football.london have rounded up all the speculation surrounding the clinical frontman's future at the Stade Velodrome.

Arsenal recommendation

Chilean journalist Jose Tomas Fernandez Pumarino has reported that Marseille have offered Sanchez a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

However, the report then goes on to claim that the Gunners could potentially try and bring him back to north London if he doesn't pen a new contract with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Instagram post

Back in January, the Chilean international responded to a post from Arsenal's social media team showing one of his goals during a famous 3-0 win over Manchester United during the 2015/16 campaign. Writing on Instagram, he said: "You remembered me, I will never forget you too.

"You will always be in my heart. You were my first family in England, and everybody took good care of me especially the fans. All the best Gunners."

City admission

Sanchez has previously admitted that he believes he would have won the Champions League with Manchester City if he turned down United to sign for their rivals instead.

"I was about to go to City," said Sanchez, as quoted by La Tercera, via the Mirror. "I spoke to Guardiola every day, he told me happy birthday. He was like my dad, He was my dad at Barcelona and he was like my dad at City. We talked, we talked every day, he sent me messages.

"And everything was ready, there was a player who was going to go to Arsenal. Then [Arsenal manager Arsene] Wenger tells me you are not leaving because the other player did not want to come and they do not have another."
