Alexis Sanchez speaks out on Manchester United situation

Alexis Sanchez has revealed he has never felt as bad as he did following a dire end to the season for Manchester United.

The Chile international struggled for form during his first full season at United which saw him score just one goal during 20 Premier League appearances for the club.

Sanchez has never found consistency following his move from Arsenal in January of last year and MEN Sport understand United would be willing to part with his services this summer if a viable offer were to materialise.

However the player showed United exactly what he can offer on Monday night as he scored a goal and grabbed an assist as Chile thrashed Japan 4-0 in their opening match of Copa America.

After the victory, Sanchez admitted he has never felt as bad as he had in the wake of United's dire end to the season, but he cited the positive environment within the Chile national side as part of the reason for his immediate return to form.

“For six weeks I felt worse than I ever have before,” Sanchez told reporters.

“I struggled in the first half as I felt stifled but in the second half I was more relaxed and played with more freedom and excitement."

Speaking after the match Sanchez's international teammate Arturo Vidal praised the United forward and in particular the manner in which he bounced back following a 'difficult year' at Old Trafford.

“Alexis needed the goal. He had a difficult year and this gives him confidence,” Vidal said of his compatriot.
