Alexis Sanchez sends message to Arsenal ahead of Manchester United game

Alexis Sanchez looks to have sided with Arsenal in the battle between two of his former sides on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners welcome Manchester United to the Emirates in a huge top-of-the-table clash. Erik Ten Hag's side can close the gap on the league leaders to five points with victory, but know no one else has come away from North London with three points this season.

With an unbeaten run stretching back to November and the psychological advantage of having won the reverse fixture, the Reds will head south confident of getting something. Nevertheless, opinions are split as to who will come out on top.

In the build-up to the game, Arsenal's social media accounts had been re-living some of their favourite goals against Sunday's opponents, with Sanchez's superb strike in a 2015 3-0 win spotted by the Chile international.

"You remembered me. I will never forget you too," Sanchez wrote in response to the Instagram post. "You will always be in my heart. You were my first family in England. And everyone took good care of me especially the fans. All the best Gunners."

Sanchez spent four years at Arsenal before a sensational move to Old Trafford in January 2018 - five years to the day before Sunday's clash - that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head the other way. The Reds organised a now infamous signing announcement which involved the winger playing 'Glory Glory Man United' on the piano.

But the Chilean failed to replicate his Emirates form in M16, registering just five goals across two campaigns before joining Inter Milan.
