Alexis Sanchez reveals who convinced him to leave Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez has revealed it was Romelu Lukaku who convinced him to leave Manchester United for Inter Milan.

Sanchez completed a season-long loan move to the San Siro last month having been frozen out at United by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer said after United's win over Chelsea in their opening Premier League game that he expected Sanchez to come good at the club but left him out of his squads for the games against Wolves and Crystal Palace.

Speaking about his return to Italy, Sanchez told Sky Sport Italia: “Inter is a great team. When I was at Udinese, the Nerazzurri won the treble and at that time for me they were the biggest team in Italy. Playing against them was very difficult. I am very happy to be back in Serie A. I am here to win something.

"Romelu is a very good player. He is my friend and we talk every day. You can see that he is happy to be at Inter and he always wants to win. He convinced me to come to Inter.

"The team is very much united and this is important if you want to win. The fans have not seen the team win anything for many years so there is great hunger to win.”

He added: “It was not the right time to go there (to United), but I do not regret it. United is focusing on young players, they want to grow to and back like they were in the times of Sir Alex Ferguson.”
