Antonio Conte's Inter Milan are understood to be interested in ending Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United nightmare by taking the Chilean on a season-long loan.
Sanchez – who played for Udinese before joining Barcelona - has been heavily linked with a return to Italy having failed to replicate his Arsenal form during a season-and-a-half at Old Trafford.
Reports in Italy suggest that the loan – which would command a fee in the region on €15million (£13.7m) – would include an option to make the deal permanent.
But the deal would seriously test Man Utd’s desire to shift a player who scored just two goals last season, as the club would likely need to supplement his wage.
The Chile international is paid in excess of £500,000-a-week at Old Trafford, while it was claimed last week that his Fernando Felicevich earns over £21,000 a week due to the £5m agent’s fees agreement which is to be paid over the course of the player’s contract.

United have of course been in discussions with Inter throughout the summer as Romelu Lukaku completed a £73m move to Italy.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to deny last week that Sanchez had been made to train with the reserves.
"Alexis is such a professional and he comes in working every single day, really hard, and he wants to be a part of this," the United boss said.
"It's these stories again that he's been put in the reserves and all this - of course he hasn't.

"He's part of our squad and he's a very, very good player. He's had three weeks now, so he's a few weeks behind the rest, but he's very close to being part of it."
The Italian transfer window closes on September 2.
