Alexis Sanchez names the two reasons why he failed at Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez believes he needed more game time to succeed at Manchester United, as he compared his situation to departed striker Romelu Lukaku.

Both Sanchez and Lukaku moved from United to Inter Milan in the summer, Sanchez on a season-long loan and Lukaku in a permanent deal worth around £74million.

And in an interview with ESPN both men have spoke about why it didn't work out for them under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Sanchez believing that he needed to play more, and that there were too many changes at the club.

He scored just three league goals in a dismal 18-month spell at United after moving from Arsenal in January 2018.

"Lukaku and I trained very well," said Sanchez.

"But we needed to play more in games to get to our best.

"It wasn't the right time for us to be at Manchester. Too many changes. When you change that much, it's tough."

Both forwards now link up at the San Siro under the management of former Premier League winner Antonio Conte.

And Sanchez believes the environment is right for him to rediscover the form that made him one of the Premier League's most dangerous attackers during his time at Arsenal.

"I can feel the will here to achieve," Sanchez added. "This is why I'm here. That's why Romelu is here. Will it work? We will have a lot more to say about that at the end of the season."

On Lukaku specifically, Sanchez believes he is destined to succeed.

He said: "You can look a long time and you won't find anyone else like him, anywhere in the world."
