Alexis Sanchez: Manchester United transfer exit confirmed by Inter chief executive

Alexis Sanchez will join Internazionale from Manchester United imminently, the Serie A club’s chief executive has confirmed.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Giuseppe Marotta revealed that Sanchez would be announced as an Inter player on Thursday.

“Unofficially, we’ll make it official tomorrow morning,” he said. ”The player is entirely owned by Inter. We have a contract with him for three seasons.”

The move will allow Sanchez to compete in the latter rounds of this season’s Europa League, with a mini-tournament to be held in Germany over the next fortnight.

Sanchez was named in Inter’s squad for their last-16 tie with Getafe. United are on the opposite side of the draw and could play Inter in the final in Cologne.

The Chilean has spent the 2019-20 season on loan in Milan having failed to live up to expectations at United since his arrival in January 2018.

Sanchez became the club’s highest-paid player but scored just five goals in 45 appearances after joining from Arsenal in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
