Alexis Sanchez has no Man Utd future despite previous Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claim

Manchester United are reportedly still trying to offload 31-year-old forward Alexis Sanchez despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently claiming he could still have a future at the club.

Sanchez was a huge disappointment in his one-and-a-half seasons at United, making just 45 appearances and scoring five goals after joining from Arsenal in 2017.

He was sent out on a season-long loan to Inter Milan in the summer, where he has suffered further frustration after dislocating his ankle in October, but when asked about Sanchez's future last month, Solskjaer said: "Alexis will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong."

According to the Manchester Evening News, however, Solskjaer's comments were mainly to ensure his value does not diminish, and it appears the club are still very much in favour of finding a buyer and letting Sanchez move on in the summer.

Sanchez has recently made his return from the ankle injury he suffered while on international duty with Chile, and he played a part in helping Inter beat rivals AC Milan on Sunday evening, creating an assist in the 4-2 win before being substituted in the 72nd minute.

A strong end to the season could yet see Inter make his move permanent, or perhaps lead to another Serie A side swooping, but it looks highly unlikely he will be seen in a United shirt again.

Speaking in October Sanchez admitted he had lost some passion for football during his dire time at United, and appeared to be happy and settled at Inter.

“Coming to Inter was a bit like falling in love with football again,” he told UEFA.

“I already knew the coach and some of the players, and I believe that the club are preparing something beautiful for the future.

“If I'm not mistaken, Inter haven't won anything for seven or eight years. It was a bit like finding my love for football again, together with my desire to win something with this club.”
