Alexis Mac Allister wants 'top club' transfer this summer amid Arsenal and Chelsea links

Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister would love to join a top club during the summer transfer window if recent reports are to be believed.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a move for Mac Allister in recent times following the talented playmaker's stellar World Cup campaign with eventual winners Argentina. Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there is likely to be a big fight this summer between clubs interested in prising the 24-year-old away from the Amex Stadium.

Writing for CaughtOffside, Romano said: ‘I’m told Alexis Mac Allister has chances to leave in the summer as he’d love a top club move, but Brighton guarantee they’ve not fixed a price tag yet and I guess is going to be another big fight to sign Brighton star in the summer."

Mac Allister played under current Chelsea boss Graham Potter during the coach's time with Brighton, which could make a move to the Blues appealing for the player. Similarly, he would slot perfectly into Mikel Arteta's system at Arsenal, which consists of two free-roaming No.8s, a role that the Argentine may think is ideal for his development going forward.

Still, the player himself has been coy when asked about his future with the Seagulls, admitting he is enjoying his time on the south coast. "If a good offer comes for the club and for me then we will make a decision but I like to live in the present and I am really happy here at Brighton", he said during a recent interview with Sky Sports.

"The dream was to win the World Cup and I have done it. I could retire now. But I still enjoy playing football."
