Alexis Mac Allister doubles down on transfer stance amid Liverpool links

Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister has reaffirmed where his priority lies amid links with a move to clubs including Liverpool.

Mac Allister's reputation skyrocketed at the World Cup. He was one of the standout performers for Argentina as they ended the 20-year wait for a South American side to be crowned world champions.

And since the tournament in Qatar, Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who impressed when the sides met at the Amex Stadium earlier this month.

And just weeks after that sobering Premier League defeat - a result manager Jurgen Klopp described as his worst during his time in the dugout - the Reds will return to the south coast to take on the Seagulls on Sunday in the FA Cup.

And speaking to ITV ahead of the fourth-round encounter, Mac Allister was once again asked about the speculation surrounding his future. He said: "I'm fine, I always say I'm focused here in Brighton, this is the club who helped me become a better player, better human-being.

"I'm not rushed to leave, I try not to read or hear too much but as I say, I'm very focused here. I'm looking forward to the weekend."

It isn't the first time in which he has been forced to address his future. Mc Allister, who has seven goals in 18 appearances for the Seagulls this season, had previously been linked with Chelsea and his former boss Graham Potter.

“I try not to read too much [speculation]. I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave," the Argentine told Albion TV at the beginning of January. "I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my teammates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.

“It was a good World Cup for this club and for the players who went to the World Cup."
