Alexandria residents targeted in terrifying phone scam

Police are warning people to be vigilant after members of the public in Alexandria were targeted by a phone scam.

Several residents have reported receiving calls from 0300 200 1794  with the caller stating they are from Inland Revenue.

Tributes to "kind" and "courageous" Balloch man who battled cancer

The recipient of the call is then advised if they do not press number one, they will be arrested within 24 hours.

A police spokesperson said: "This is a scam and no details should be passed to the caller."

Anyone who has received such a call should contact police on 101.
