Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has hailed Mikel Arteta's tactical change which has inspired the Gunners' recent return to form, but conceded that the side "lack" attacking players.
The north London side have eased the pressure on Arsenal boss Arteta with wins over Chelsea and Brighton over the Christmas period ending a run of seven games without a victory.
The Gunners had also previously lost four home games in a row, marking the worst start to a Premier League season in the club's history.
But Arteta's decision to switch from his favoured 3-4-3 formation to a 4-3-3 in the recent 3-1 win over Chelsea reaped instant rewards, with youngsters Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka flourishing in an attacking three behind the striker.
Ahead of Arsenal's trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Lacazette admitted that the Gunners "lacked attacking players", but Arteta's tactical shift to provide the lone striker with more support has been a masterstroke.
"The coach puts me as a No.9, but more with a role to play for my team-mates and challenge a lot," he told RMC.
"It is not really a 10’s position, nor an old-fashioned No.9 that has to stay ahead and score goals.
"He knows my qualities and knows that I like to play short and help my team-mates with the development of play.
"Now we’re four behind and three midfielders. It’s much easier, because before we lacked attacking players.
"This tactical change is also good for us..."
Lacazette was a substitute in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday, but emerged from the bench to score the winner and will be hoping to earn a recall to the starting line-up for the clash against West Brom.
"It never happened to me. After the match, I was told that I had scored after 21 seconds," he added.
"I was a little surprised, but it’s true that everything went quickly.
"When the team lost confidence, it was also my case. I had few situations in match, only one per game. I had to make it happen, and that’s what I didn’t do.
"In the game, it was not exceptional either. Since then, we have regained confidence, me too with the matches of Europa League who helped me."
