Alexandre Lacazette sends message to Laurent Koscielny following his Arsenal departure

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has posted a goodbye message to former captain Laurent Koscielny, as the Frenchman sealed a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

The defender has joined Ligue 1 side Bordeaux for a fee believed to be in the region of £4.6m.

Koscielny caused unrest when he refused to travel with the rest of the Arsenal squad on their pre-season tour of the USA in an attempt to force through a move back to his home country.

After nine years at the Emirates Stadium, after joining from FC Lorient in 2010, the 33-year-old got his wish on Tuesday by completing the switch to Bordeaux.

Following his departure, the player took to social media to explain the reasons behind his desired move.

Teammates, including striker Alexandre Lacazette, soon followed suit, using their social media accounts to wish their ex-teammate good luck at his new club.

"Thanks Captain , it’s been a pleasure and an honor to play 2 years alongside you." The Frenchman wrote on his Instagram page, alongside a picture of the duo.

With just two days left of the transfer window, Unai Emery will now be even more aware of the need to bring in defensive cover at the Emirates Stadium, with defenders such as Daniele Rugani and Dayot Upamecano just two to the targets identified to help fill the void left by the club captain.
