Alexandre Lacazette sends Instagram message to Barcelona star ahead of January transfer window

Alexandre Lacazette might have sparked a huge reaction amongst Arsenal supporters on social media.

The Frenchman, voted as the club's player of the season for last season, is currently preparing for the visit of Southampton after the international break as he was not selected by Didier Deschamps for this week's Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Another player not in the Les Bleus squad is Samuel Umtiti.

It's no secret that the Gunners were linked with a summer move for the Barcelona star as head coach Unai Emery planned a defensive overhaul.

Having been absent for the vast majority of last season with a knee injury, it seemed Umtiti  could have been his way out at the Camp Nou.

But he stayed put and the north London outfit swooped for William Saliba as well as David Luiz instead, although the former won't link up with his new teammates until next summer.

However, Umtiti continues to be linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the January transfer window as the team are still struggling defensively.

And Lacazette has taken to social media to send his compatriot a message.

Umtiti has turned 26 today (November 14) and the Gunners star made sure to celebrate it with a number of posts on his Instagram stories.

Speaking of Arsenal's interest, Umtiti has some rather bad news for fans hoping for his arrival in the summer.

"Honestly, I don't know where this rumour with Arsenal came from," he said. "Overnight, I received messages from my friends 'ah, so  you are joining Arsenal?' I'm not, I'm sorry but I'm staying at Barcelona.

"Contacts with Arsenal? To be honest, I don't know if they had conversations with my agent, I just told him that I didn't care what was happening this summer and that it wasn't even necessary to talk to me about it.

"It was useless, I was going to have the same answer.

"My dream as a child is to play for Barcelona.

"Last season was the most difficult of my career, especially in terms of injuries."

But could Lacazette persuade his close friend to make the move in the near future?
