Alexandre Lacazette reveals how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes him better

Alexandre Lacazette has hailed his partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his match-winner against Newcastle .

The Frenchman was set free by a header from Aubameyang and delicately lobbed Martin Dubravka to seal a 2-0 win and move the Gunners into third place.

The pair have struck up a superb partnership when deployed together up front by Unai Emery and Lacazette came to life when his partner was introduced as a substitute on the hour mark.

The 27-year-old praised his team-mate after he turned provider and believes the pair bring out the best in each other having contributed a combined 30 Premier League goals this season.

"I think we are important for the team," Lacazette told Sky Sports after the game.

"Like other players, but Auba scores many goals.

"I try to do the same, to help him to score as many goals as he can, and he does the same for me as well.

"We have to do the same to help the team to score a lot of goals to win and go to the Champions League."

The pair have come under fire for their lack of goals in away games - but Lacazette is confident it won't affect the side entering a run of five remaining games on the road over the remainder of the season.

"I would like to score a lot of goals away, but if at the end we win it's a more important thing for the team and the club," he commented.

The Gunners have enjoyed a promising first season under new boss Unai Emery and have taken control of the race for the Premier League top four by moving into third spot.

Lacazette revealed confidence has been key to their improvement after finishing down in sixth last season.

"I can feel the difference from last season," he admitted.

"Now we may go to the Champions League, so they (the fans) did their job.

"There was a buzz as much as possible to go into third place.

"I think we are more confident and everybody knows what we have to do.

"When you win a lot of games in a row, of course there is a lot of confidence.

"We work every day to be in a top four place and now we are, so we need to work to stay in this position."
