Alexandre Lacazette makes honest confession about Arsenal's performance at Everton

Alexandre Lacazette admitted he and his team-mates failed to follow Unai Emery's instructions in Arsenal's 1-0 win at Everton on Sunday but the French striker insists the Gunners can still achieve glory domestically and in Europe this season.

Arsenal slipped to their eighth road defeat of the season at Goodison Park in their last Premier League match, that result coupled with Chelsea's victory the following night meaning the Gunners find themselves fifth and outside the Champions League qualification spots.

Emery's side were lucky to avoid a more sizeable defeat in a game where they failed to create any serious opportunities after Lacazette flashed an early effort wide - only the display of Bernd Leno in goal kept Everton's lead down to a single goal.

Every word Arsenal's Unai Emery and Alexandre Lacazette just said on Napoli, Aubameyang and Ozil

Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League and indeed if they win all their remaining fixtures they are guaranteed a top four finish. Lacazette is determined to ensure Arsenal achieve qualification through at least one of those means.

"On Sunday we played badly, all the team," Lacazette said. "We didn't do what the coach asked us but we still have confidence.

"We know we're still in the race for the Champions League in the Premier League, but we want to win trophies so we are confident."

Arsenal, who host Napoli in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night, have endured woeful form away from the Emirates Stadium for some time now. Indeed since the start of 2018 the only teams they have beaten on the road in the Premier League are Huddersfield, Cardiff City, Newcastle United, Fulham and Bournemouth.

The crucial three weeks for Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Man United in race for the top four

Lacazette appeared to be at a loss to explain why they have been so poor on their travels.

"First at home we have the fans, so of course we feel more confident," he told football.london.

"Sometimes we want to do something but some days it’s not as we want, you can't play as you want."

The five changes Unai Emery must make to turn Arsenal into an away day juggernaut
