Former West Ham United and Chelsea star Joe Cole has compared Alexandre Lacazette to a former Premier League striker.
Lacazette scored the first goal in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon, and he impressed Cole and ex-Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, both of whom were on punditry duty for BT Sport at the Emirates.
And Cole, who picked up 56 caps for England, compared the French striker to his former Three Lions team-mate Jermaine Defoe, who scored over 90 times for North London rivals Tottenham.
He said: “Look at this (Lacazette goal). This is a natural goalscorer. He’s falling over and he still manages to hit the target.
“He reminds me a lot of Jermain Defoe. He can wriggle, he can turn on a sixpence. He’s on the floor and he’s still hitting the target.”
Defoe won the Tottenham Player of the Year in 2004 and also helped Spurs win the League Cup during his eleven seasons at White Hart Lane.
He is currently playing in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers and is still scoring goals at 36-years-old, bagging a hat-trick against Hibernian last weekend.
Cole was full of praise for both Lacazette and his strike-partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the latter eventually scoring the winner.
And the former Chelsea and West Ham midfielder applauded the former Borussia Dortmund forward’s finish.
“Because he’s so good, I said he could go on his left, so he threw me a dummy from the studio," Cole added.
“He hit it so well, he hit cleanly with the laces, and it’s one of those ones where you let it bounce over the goalie. The keeper had no chance.”
