Alexandre Lacazette has seemingly thrown his hat into the ring in regards to becoming the next Arsenal no.10.
That shirt number is expected to become vacant at the Emirates Stadium in the coming days once Mesut Ozil's free transfer to Fenerbahce has been completed.
As reported by football.london, the 32-year-old's move to Turkey is imminent as he's already said his goodbyes to the Arsenal squad ahead of undergoing a medical.
So once Ozil 's contract at the Emirates Stadium is officially terminated, the no.10 shirt number will immediately be up for grabs.
For any member of the Gunners squad who is interested in taking on the iconic shirt number that has been worn by the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie, and Jack Wilshere in the past, they'll have to wait until the end of the season.
However, any new arrival this month - amid talk of Emi Buendia, Julian Draxler, or Julian Brandt joining this month - would be free to take on the shirt number immediately.
But it's safe to say that Lacazette is hopeful that this particular scenario doesn't happen.
Taking to social media to indirectly deliver his verdict on Ozil's imminent move to Fenerbahce, the Frenchman appears to have given the deal his seal of approval.
Just so he can lay claim to the no.10 shirt.
As seen in the Instagram Stories image above, Lacazette posted an image of himself and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from a training session at London Colney with a caption that reads: "When you both want the number 10," with an emoji that many can relate to.
It's not the first time that Lacazette has teased that he favours no.10.
Taking to Instagram shortly after Ozil was given the no.10 ahead of the 2018/19 season, Lacazette joked that he was the real owner of the shirt number after posing for a picture wearing the midfielder's training top.
"The Real Number 10," Lacazette posted." @m10_official sorry bro."
Interestingly, Lacazette did wear no.10 at Lyon for several seasons prior to joining Arsenal where he was given the no.9 instead.
Upon arriving in north London in the summer of 2017, Wilshere was still at the club and Ozil clearly got his request in first when the midfielder was released on a free transfer 12 months later.
Will the Frenchman be third time lucky?
