American artist and long-time girlfriend of Keanu Reeves, Alexandra Grant, has shut down rumours that she and the beloved actor got married after an AI-generated image of their ‘wedding’ went gangbusters on social media.
Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Grant officially put a pin on those wedding rumours by sharing a “real photo” of her and the actor at Arizona’s Roden Crater.
“This is a real photo,” the artist wrote in her caption alongside the sweet, sweet pic.
“Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!)
“We’re at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries.”
Grant went on to thank everyone for congratulating her and Reeves on their ‘wedding’, even though they never tied the knot.
“I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding,” she continued.
“Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”
Rumours of a Grant and Reeves wedding first surfaced on September 16, when an insider claimed to Radar Online that the pair had secretly tied the knot in “Europe earlier this summer”.
A week later, Reeves’ publicist swiftly dismissed the rumours, telling E! News, “It is not true”.
“They are not married,” they added.
Despite the publicist’s shut down, an AI-generated image of the couple — which depicted Reeves and Grant showing of their rings in what appeared to be a wedding ceremony — went viral on social media.
If the spooky smiles didn’t give it away, I reckon the rings did ‘cos I definitely would’ve expected something more ~eccentric~ from these two love birds.
In 2019, Reeves and Grant made their relationship red carpet official at LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. Of course, with everyone having a soft spot for the beloved actor, the news was bittersweet. However, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all in awe of their love.
