Alexandra Eala vs Jessica Pegula Washington DC Open final suspended – when will it resume?

  • Alexandra Eala from the Philippines faced home favorite Jessica Pegula in the final of the Washington DC Open on Sunday.
  • The start of the match was delayed by around two hours due to rain and lightning in the area.
  • When play finally did get underway, World No 3 Pegula edged the opening set 6-4, and then the second set was 2-1 to Eala on serve when rain halted proceedings again.
  • The weather did not improve in the hours after, forcing play to be suspended for the day, meaning that Eala and Pegula must finish their final on Monday, while the men’s final between Taylor Fritz and Rafael Jodar is yet to even start and will also be played on Monday.
  • If the weather is good on Monday, the women’s final will resume at 12:00 ET (17:00 BST), with the men’s final scheduled to begin an hour later at 13:00 ET (18:00 BST).
