Alexandra Cane finally happy after beating unhealthy obsession with diet and exercise

Love Island star Alexandra Cane has admitted she is finally over her unhealthy obsession with restricting food and over-exercising, which was ruining her life.

In late 2019, the reality star, 29, suddenly dropped two stone in weight and released her very own fitness plan.

Despite looking stunning, Alexandra has revealed she didn't feel good about herself due to a secret unhealthy relationship with dieting and too much exercise.

After tucking into a Nandos for her evening meal last night, Alexandra was bombarded with messages from fans.

It appears they wanted to know more about the ins and out of her fitness journey, as she posted on her Story: "Just wanted to touch on something quickly because I'm getting a lot of questions about it...

The TV personality revealed that behind the scenes she was unhappy as she restricted herself from living life due to worrying about how she looked and what she was eating.

Alexandra wrote: "When I was controlling food/exercise (an unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with grief) it massively increased my stress levels."

She continued: "Stress has a huge flipping effect on the body. I was fully living in a trance and not getting any enjoyment at all from food or even life come to think of it.

"I've been trying to show myself love since in so many forms - rather than restricting food and over-exercising to numb the pain.

"Since my mindset has shifted, I'm now getting pleasure out of the things I eat, my hunger cues are regulating, I'm eating what I want and not feeling guilty about it.

"I'm also loving my body way more because my inflammation, bloating and water retention has settled that I actually feel so beautiful from the inside out."

Alexandra then added: "You live and you learn. There's so much more to life than having f***ing obliques.

"Anyway, if you are restricting or controlling food, please ask and be honest with yourself if there is any deeper emotional s**t going on.

"Also, don't be afraid to seek professional help because the freedom really is worth it."

The TV star has come a long way since she appeared on Love Island, where she started her journey to fame.

Alexandra lost a staggering two-stone after coming out of the villa, which was spurred on following her exit from the show.

Just a few short months after her transformation, Alexandra told The Sun that she feels like "a whole new woman" and that her whole journey was to feel healthy.

She said: "I never did this to lose weight or look a certain way. I've always believed that you should strive for self-acceptance, whatever weight you are.

"In Love Island I thought I was healthy, but I look back now and think I couldn't even walk up a hill without getting out of breath. Now I'm so full of energy and I don't have brain fog. I'm hydrated and full of life.

"When I compare myself from then and now, the way I feel inside is like a whole new woman."

She has finally found the confidence to feel happier within herself after gaining healthy weight during the lockdown, and it's clearly shining through.
