Alexandra Burke responds to Celeb SAS favouritism row and says she broke ribs on show
Alexandra Burke has denied the claims she received special treatment from Ant Middleton on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The singer caught wind of the rumours there was favouritism on the show and set things straight during her appearance on The One Show.
The 33-year-old was, according to the claims, treated better than the other celebrities by the Chief Instructor.
"I can absolutely just reassure people that there is no favouritism in this show at all whatsoever," she revealed.
"I read that article and it really upset me because I was like, 'Really?' because you have your microphones on at every single given moment. They hear absolutely everything you're doing, they see what you're doing."
Alexandra continued: "And there's no favouritism so I just want to put that to bed and just say that did not happen at all.
"I wish I had favouritism. I broke my ribs for crying out loud."
The rumours started when shocked viewers noticed Ant called Alexandra by her last name as opposed to her number.
Recently, the Chief Instructor and his team also called her the strongest recruit.
A source even told The Sun : "Ant appeared to take a shine to Alexandra on SAS and it didn’t go unnoticed by the show’s stars and the crew."
The insider said that he would be "taking her to one side for a chat" and the two supposedly took their microphones off so "no one could hear them".
However, a rep for Ant denied the claims and asserted that Ant was "always disciplined and utterly professional" throughout each series.
Alexandra' Celeb SAS co-star Jack Quickenden also came to her defence and called the rumours "bull****".
During a Q&A session on his Instagram earlier this week, the 33-year-old shut down the claims that Ant "took a shine" to the singer.
"Did Ant really treat Burke differently did she get special treatment?" asked a social media user.
Telling how it was untrue, Jake blasted: "No! Everyone was treated the same!
"We was all in the same beds, did the same trials and tasks it is absolute bull****! Bull****, bull****, bull****!"
Alexandra previously described taking part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as "the best decision" she has ever made.
Ahead of the launch last week, she said that she had "always wanted to" participate in the show that pushes people to their limits.
"I have been a fan of the show for many, many years, and I've always wanted to do it. I've never had the time to do it, unfortunately, because of my schedule," the singer said.
