Alexandra Burke has broken down in tears on Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins as she discussed her mother’s death.
The pop star and former X Factor singer struggled with challenges on the show and was brought in for a discussion with instructors Ant Middleton and Melvyn Downes.
When Ant Middleton asked how she was feeling, Alexandra admitted that she felt “exhausted”.
However, Alexandra noted she was “okay” and did not want to quit the show despite failing recent challenges.
Ant noted that he saw some “self-doubt” or lack of confidence in Alexandra at times, which she fell into, before asking her if something had knocked her confidence.
Alexandra said: “It comes from many places, actually, and I think the first place is…I get my confidence from my mum.”
She cheerfully recalled how her mother had supported her throughput The X Factor and had recorded tunes on a dictaphone for her.
“She was my weapon,” said Alexandra, “she was my secret weapon.”
An emotional Alexandra admitted: “To not have her, I feel like I’ve lost all purpose. The day she left, I feel…is the day she took all of me.”
Alexandra then shook her head in tears over her late mother Melissa Bell, who died in 2017.
“And she died in my arms,” revealed Alexandra, “and she waited four hours for me to drive from f***ing Blackpool to be there.”
After the emotional discussion of grief, the instructors gave Alexandra a pep talk, reminding her that she is the last woman standing in the competition.
“Do not take your eye off the ball now,” said Ant. “No one can do this apart from you.”
Alexandra was also told that her mother would be proud of her.
