A 43-year-old man charged with murder following the death of a woman in Brisbane's south has been remanded in custody.

Police allege Angela Godwin, 45, was fatally wounded at Upper Mount Gravatt on Monday night.

Alexander O'Sachy, who was known to Ms Godwin, went to a police station to assist officers with their investigation on Tuesday, police say.

Police Chief Superintendent Tony Fleming said on Tuesday that police will allege the pair were in a relationship.

He was later taken into custody at the police station and charged with one count of murder as a domestic violence offence.

Mr O'Sachy briefly appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning via video link, where his lawyer adjourned the case.

The matter will return to court next month.
