More than 200 runners tackled Screel Hill Race on Saturday afternoon.
The event’s popularity soared this year after Scottish Athletics chose it as their West District Championship Race, runners coming from far and wide to take on the hill near Palnackie.
First home was Alexander Chepelin of Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hound, who returned in a time of 26 minutes 46 seconds.
He was nearly a minute clear of Deeside Runners’ James Espie with Andrew Fallas of Carnethy HRC third.
Ricky Lightfoot and Kate Jenkins win 2019 Criffel Hill Race
First woman was Jill Stephens of Hunters Bog Trotters in 33.41. Heather Anderson of Fife AC was second with Ruth Crew of Westerlands CCC third.
Castle Douglas’ Dougie Milligan won the male vet 70 category in a time of 45.43.
