Alex Turner's love life - Alexa Chung poem, ex's savage tattoo and Love Island romance

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has lived up to his rock star image over the years thanks to stepping out with a string of beautiful women over the years.

The Arabella singer, 37, has racked up a bevvy of famous exes since rising to fame in the 00s, with supermodels and TV stars making up the Yorkshire man's dating history.

As Glastonbury Festival goers nervously wait to see if the Arctic Monkeys take to the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, after it was announced Alex has acute laryngitis on Monday, we take a look at the Sheffield lad's colourful love life.

From his co-writer ex-girlfriend moving on with a Kings of Leon guitarist, to his relationship with Alexa Turner becoming classic 'Indie Sleaze' folklore, Alex's romances are often as poetic as his band's tunes.

As Alex and his bandmates introduced themselves as indie icons in 2005, thanks to their debut single I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor instantly becoming a classic anthem, Alex found love with Johanna Bennett.

At the time, Johanna was fronting her own band Totalizer, whose demos were produced by Dirty Pretty Things guitarist Anthony Rossomando.

Before they split in 2007, Alex and Johanna penned the Arctic Monkeys single Fluorescent Adolescent together, after developing the lyrics during a word game they played on a holiday.

After her time with Alex came to an end, Johanna tied the knot with Kings of Leon lead guitarist Matthew Followill in 2009. The couple, who love in Nashville, Tennessee, share three children together.

Alexa Chung (2007 - 2011)

Alex and Alexa Chung's romance ended well over a decade ago but the pair are still 'couple goals' to indie music fans.

The Mardy Bum singer and former T4 presenter Alexa, 39, started dating in July 2007 and had set home together in Brooklyn, New York by 2009, before later relocating to London.

A love letter Alex penned for Alexa during their time together still does the rounds on social media to this day, after Alexa accidently left the note in a bar.

"My mouth hasn't shut up about you since you kissed it. The idea that you may kiss it again is stuck in my brain, which hasn't stopped thinking about you since, well, before any kiss," Alex's ode to his now ex begins with.

"And now the prospect of those kisses seems to wind me like when you slip on the stairs and one of the steps hits you in the middle of the back. The notion of them continuing for what is traditionally terrifying forever excites me to an unfamiliar degree."

Despite the two stars looking loved-up and adorable for four years, the pair eventually called it a day in 2011, briefly reuniting in the summer of 2014 for a few weeks.

The pair seemingly ended things on good terms, with Alexa dedicating a chapter of her book, IT, to her ex and telling the Guardian in 2013 that the 505 singer, who she referred to as Al, was still her "best friend".

A few months on from his brief reunion with Alexa, Alex began dating American actress and model Arielle Vandenberg.

At the start of her career, Arielle guest-starred on shows like How I Met Your Mother, CSI: Miami and was the host of the American version of Love Island from 2019 until 2021.

It's thought Arielle was the inspiration behind the track Arabella on the Arctic Monkeys album AM, and also appeared in the band's music video for their single R U Mine?

After splitting from Alex in 2014, Arielle briefly dated actor Will Arnett before finding love with her now-fiancé Matt Cutshall.

Taylor Bagley (2015-2018)

Alex moved from Arielle with another American model, Taylor Bagley.

The pair dating from 2015 until 2018 and even adopted a dog together during their three-year romance.

Sadly pup Scooter, who Alex and Taylor often referred to as Tootus, passed away before the former couple split - with Taylor getting a tattoo dedicated to her beloved late pet.

A Tootus tatt wasn't the only piece of body art Taylor indulged while dating Alex, with the former couple getting each other's names inked on their arms before calling it quits.

However, since splitting from Alex in 2018, Taylor has updated her tribute to include a gravestone and RIP above the Snap Out Of It singer's name.

Louise Verneuil (2018-present)

Since 2018, Alex has been linked to French musician Louise Verneuil, as the singer supported her boyfriend and his band as they toured their album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

It's thought Louise, 34, was the reason behind Alex's decision to spend some time in France in 2020 and eventually move out of Los Angeles completely. It's reported the couple currently split their time between London and Paris.

Louise could possibly make an appearance at Worthy Farm this weekend, as Alex's band are scheduled to headline the Pyramid Stage on the opening night of the Glastonbury Festival.

But fans fear the Arctic Monkeys may be a no-show come Friday, following the revelation Alex is suffering from acute laryngitis.

The Arctic Monkeys had been set to play Marlay Park on Tuesday night but announced the gig had been cancelled on Monday afternoon.

In a statement shared on social media on Monday, the band apologised to their fans and explained: "Alex is suffering from acute laryngitis and, following medical advice, has been ordered to rest."

As of Tuesday, no comment has been made regarding the band's Glastonbury commitments.
