Alex Trebek’s final three ‘Jeopardy!’ episodes set to air Friday in Chicago

AP

Chicago “Jeopardy!” fans will get to see Alex Trebek’s final episodes after all.

Though two of this week’s episodes — the last hosted by Trebek before his death in November — were preempted by news coverage of the U.S. Capitol siege and its aftermath, WLS-Channel 7 has altered its schedule to make room for a delayed broadcast.

The Wednesday and Thursday episodes are scheduled to air at 1 and 1:30 p.m. Friday, taking the place of “Windy City Live,” leading into Trebek’s final episode in the usual “Jeopardy!” time slot at 3:30. That’s assuming the afternoon is free of further interruptions for breaking news.

Trebek died November 8 at age 80 of pancreatic cancer but had pre-taped several weeks of shows that have continued to air.

A successor hasn’t been named. Longtime “Jeopardy!’ champion Ken Jennings will be the first of a planned series of guest hosts on episodes that begin appearing next week. The Los Angeles Times reports former “Today” anchor Katie Couric also will do a turn as guest host, but Couric and the show are not confirming that.
