Alex Trebek’s final episodes of ‘Jeopardy!’ air this week

It’s going to be an emotional week of Jeopardy! episodes.

The quiz show hasn’t aired its final set of eps hosted by the legendary and incomparable Alex Trebek who died in November after a long battle with cancer.

But starting on Monday and running through Friday, the world will get to see the final Trebek-hosted Jeopardy! episodes. As the show’s Twitter account noted, he was behind the host’s podium for 36 years and for over 8,200 episodes.

And according to Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards told Entertainment Weekly, viewers are going to see once last incredible moment from Trebek: a speech about the holidays. From the interview:

On that first episode, he walked out, and you’ll see it when it airs, he gives this amazing speech about the holidays and coming together and being strong and taking care of each other. And we didn’t know he was gonna do that; he just walked out and did it. And you’ll see in the episode, we all started to clap, and there’s points in Jeopardy! where you clap and there’s points in Jeopardy! where you don’t; that’s not a normal spot. You can see [Trebek] kind of look over at us as he was crossing to reveal the categories: “What are you guys clapping about?”

Upcoming episodes after these will have Jeopardy! champion (many, many times) Ken Jennings as a guest host.
