Alex Trebek on medical leave from 'Jeopardy!' after surgery

What is a subdural hematoma?

"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek announced Thursday that production of the game show is on hold after he underwent surgery in mid-December.

Trebek, 77, developed blood clots on the brain after a fall in October and spent two days in the hospital after the surgery.

"The prognosis is excellent and I expect to be back in the studio taping more 'Jeopardy!' programs very, very soon," he said in a short video message.

The brief production break will push the College Championship episodes back from March to April.

Trebek, who has hosted "Jeopardy!" since it began in 1984, is signed on through 2020.
