Alex Telles transfer update as former Chelsea star makes major admission

Luiz reveals ‘sadness’ after leaving Chelsea

Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has opened up on his decision to leave Stamford Bridge for Arsenal last summer.

After two successful spells in West London, the Brazilian made the controversial summer deadline day move to rivals Arsenal in an £8 million deal.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Luiz admitted he will always have ‘love’ and ‘respect’ for Chelsea but needed a new challenge at this stage of his career.

“It was not easy at first. Not only of adaptation, but withstanding the criticism, the sadness of many Chelsea fans for not understanding my personal decisions.” Luiz lamented.

“My respect and love for Chelsea has always been true.”

Telles transfer update

Football London’s Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord has hosted a Q&A on all things Chelsea.

On the agenda is a potential approach for Porto left back Alex Telles and whether Frank Lampard’s side are interested.

Harbord said on Telles: "One of the areas that the Blues will be looking to buy in is the left-back position and Telles is certainly on the radar.

"However, there is no deal yet, but remains a cheaper option then someone like Ben Chilwell."

Also discussed is the future of owner Roman Abramovich and his current residential status, as well as who Frank Lampard might be keen on bringing in up front.

Clubs demand Premier League decision

Chelsea are among a number of Premier League clubs pushing to see the 2019/20 campaign completed by June 30, rather than delaying the finish indefinitely or ‘voiding’ the current campaign.

The Blues are said to be among at least nine top-flight clubs who have apparently had talks over finding a way to end the season by the summer, according to Mirror Football.

With football currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, there is no concrete plan as to how or when the season will finish.

Clubs are concerned about a number of factors including expiring player contracts and a potential loss of TV revenue should the campaign drag on beyond the end of June.
