Alex Telles sends Manchester United fitness message ahead of return

Manchester United new boy Alex Telles has posted a video to social media doing sprints as he looks to build up his fitness ahead of a first-team return.

The £13.6million left-back has had a frustrating start to his Old Trafford career after being laid low by a positive test for COVID-19 just days after making an impressive debut in the win at Paris St-Germain.

Telles played left wing-back in the Parc des Princes but he hasn't been involved for United since then, having been forced into a period of self-isolation after returning a positive test for the virus.

The Brazil international missed the games against Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Arsenal at Old Trafford and he hasn't been included in the travelling squad to face Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday.

Telles, 27, returned to Carrington on Monday, spending 15 minutes at the facility for a COVID-19 test before departing again, so he is still yet to return to training with his teammates.

But the former Porto defender has posted a video of him training on his own, sprinting along a walled path with the message "No excuses" on the footage.

That will come as a welcome boost to United and Telles will hope to finally make his second appearance for his new club against Everton at Goodison Park this Saturday.

That is the final fixture before the November international break and Telles is in the Brazil squad for World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Venezuela in Sao Paulo and Uruguay in Montevideo.

In confirming the reason for Telles' absence a week ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Telles has tested positive for coronavirus, he's been out for a few days, no symptoms, he'll be fine, back soon."
